Home Safety Checks

Any home can be made safer which is even more important as we age. Home safety checks can help you make your home safer, allowing you to continue living independently. The appointments generally last between 1 and 1.5 hours and include a health screening with our registered nurse and a home assessment. Freeman's Farm Fall Festival, October 21 - 22, 10am - 5pm, Freeman's Farm - With the aroma of 'apple butter a stirrin' and kettle corn a poppin', Freemans Farm visitors enjoy hayrides through scenic woods, campfire concessions (hotdogs, chili, chips, beverages), a farm animals petting area, delicious fresh popped kettle corn, scarecrow making, and apple butter making demonstrations over an open fire on select days. Fall treats and decorations include pumpkins, fall squash, gourds, decorations, jelly, jams, apple butter, candy, apples, cider and fall gifts. Admission is free. Second Annual Girls Night Out, Saturday, October 21, 6pm - 9pm, Animal Hospital Center of Polaris - Ladies, it’s that time again! Animal Medical Center and Help Save Pets are hosting their Second Annual Girls Night Out! Saturday October 21st, 2017 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm, at Animal Care Center of Polaris. Shopping, rescue, and food! What more could a lady ask for! Last year we raised over $500, and everyone had a great time! 10% of the proceeds made that night are donated to Help Save Pets. Every year we take in animals that are either abandoned or homeless. We take in severe medical cases: heartworm disease, parvo positive puppies, ringworm puppies, broken legs, and severe dental disease just to name a few. Our rescue saves more than 1,000 animals every year. Our goal this year at our Ohio locations is to save over 200 animals. We have had 137 adoptions this year alone! Hike to the Giants, Saturday, October 21, 9am, Oak Coves Picnic Area, Highbanks Metro Park - Hike 4-miles off-trail to the 300-year-old giant sycamores along the Olentangy River. OCES Trunk or Treat, Friday, October 27, 6:45pm - 7:45pm, Oak Creek Elementary School - Kids dress in their costumes and go from trunk to trunk gathering goodies. It is a fun-filled evening for the whole family but we need your help. Here is how you can make Trunk or Treat spook-tacular:  -Decorate your trunk and pass out treats! Get creative...hang decorations on your car with your family or get your team or troop together to do a fun theme. The most creative car will win a prize!  -Donate treats. Bags of candy, stickers, pencils, glow sticks, etc. We will be having trunks with edible and non-edible items. Send in unopened bags of candy or other items to school with your child and place in collection box in the lobby. You can also bring a bag of candy to the event.  -Come dressed to impress. 2017 Pumpkin Run 5K & Sweet Feat 5K Walk, Saturday, October 28, 3pm- 4pm, Mingo Park - This year the city of Delaware and the Delaware County Diabetes Association are teaming up to bring you one big event – the 2017 Pumpkin Run 5k and the Sweet Feat 5k Walk!  Choose between a 5K Run, 5K Walk or even a 1 Mile walk! 

Plus kid's races, costume contests! How to Kill a Tree, Saturday, October 28, 8:30am - 11:30am, Statford Ecological Center - Come join us for a fun filled morning to learn How to Kill a Tree and how NOT to kill yourself while doing it!  Starting at 8:30 a.m. Laura Ann Bergman, Physical Therapist Assistant, will show participants a warm up and stretching activity teaching proper techniques and how to avoid injury during raking and shoveling. Be prepared to move!

At 10 am. Participants will have a short break with light refreshments.  OSU Extension educator Amy Stone will begin her presentation at 10:30 a.m. discussing common tree practices, their impacts, successful tree selections, proper installation and maintenance of trees while adding value to your property. 2017 Lewis Center Fall Fest,  October 29th, 1pm - 5pm, Little Bear Golf Club  - The Third Annual Lewis Center Fall Fest is excited to welcome everyone back to another event that supports local business owners, non-profits, booster clubs and school PTO's with entertainment for the whole family. After checking in at the Welcome Center at the top level of Little Bear Golf Club, the FIRST 200 PEOPLE will be receiving welcome bags containing amazing promotional materials donated by our sponsors and vendors. The upper level of the clubhouse and the veranda will feature booths promoting local vendors and their products/services. Relax outside in the patio area or inside the Grille after your visit with the selection of food truck and sweet treat vendors available.


The fire department will be located outside from 2-4 pm for a meet and greet next to the bounce houses. TV's will be on for must-see football games. Balloon twisting, face painting, and craft tables will be setup in the grille to entertain the little ones. There will also be an amazing magician performing tricks and make sure to visit with Elsa! Paulette's Princee Parties will be set-up in the Grille from 1-3:30 pm with FREE picture opportunities with the Snow Princess! Stroll around the ballroom with your kiddos to Trick or Treat with the Vendors. Vendors will be located on the first floor passing out items for kiddos dressed up in costumes! Columbus For Kids will also have a special craft set-up as well as games for the little ones to enjoy. Tiger Woo's World Class Tae Kwon Do will be joining us to display a special performance for everyone to view and make sure to enter the Festive Raffle Giveaway for an opportunity to go home with some amazing products from local businesses!

Comprehensive Land Use Plan Update Public Meeting, November 2, December 5 - The Township was recently awarded the opportunity to partner with students from The Ohio State University’s Master of City & Regional Planning (MCRP) program to help update our current 2010 Comprehensive Land Use Plan. A comprehensive plan creates a long range vision of a community’s future. The plan facilitates in building relationships among leaders, residents and businesses. The plan is essentially a strategic guide to any new development or redevelopment proposed in the Township. Due to the Township’s exponential growth the time is right to being working on this update to sustain the continued growth in our community. Through this course, the Zoning Department and MCRP students will collaborate to complete the Plan’s update. A crucial component of this process will be reaching out to the public for comments, ideas and input. The intent of the process is to create a plan that is influenced and supported by our community. Annual Veterans Breakfast and Celebration, November 3, 8am, Olentangy Orange Middle School - Students in any grade at OOMS are encouraged to invite a family member or close friend who is a Veteran or an active duty service member to join them for breakfast at 8:00 AM in the gym. Breakfast will be followed by a ceremony put on by the students and staff of OOMS.  Following the ceremony, Veterans and active duty service members are invited into the 8th grade classrooms to speak to the 8th grade students. Hike Ohio! - Novices of the outdoors - This group is for anyone who likes to hike and walk on nature trails, backpacking trails and just about anywhere in the great outdoors. All those who are dedicated to hiking excursions in Ohio, with a focus on leaving no trace of litter on our lands can join us! We will get together for evening hikes on metro parks trails, gather for day hikes in the Ohio State park and forest system and maybe even do overnight trips if anyone is interested. Heroes Not Forgotten 5K 
Fundraiser to Honor our Veterans

Join us November 11th for the Orange Township 2nd annual Heroes Not Forgotten 5k run/walk. This is an exciting event dedicated to honor veterans.

The money raised for this event will go towards the planned Orange Township Veterans Memorial that will be erected on the corner of Orange Rd and South Old State behind the old Town Hall.

Flag Teams and Call to Veterans

Flag Teams
We are looking for teams of a minimum of 5 to carry a flag during the run (walk distance does not apply). Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and POW MIA.

If you’re a veteran or family member of a veteran and just want to cheer the runners along, please join us.


If you are unable to attend the run and would like to donate, you may in any increment you would like with the following options. Donate on the registration site or through the Delaware County Foundation (click on the “Click to Give” button, then scroll down to select Orange Township Veterans Memorial.)  A special fund has been established with the Delaware County Foundation, a non-profit community foundation that will manage all donations.   You may also send a check, payable to the Delaware County Foundation: EIN #31-1450786. Please note Orange Township Veterans Memorial in the memo line of the check. Gifts should be mailed to Delaware County Foundation, 3954 N. Hampton Dr. Powell, OH 43065.

Veterans Memorial

The goal is to make the memorial unique with local input. The memorial itself was designed by a former Olentangy Orange High School Student, Amelia Dewey. Matt Croghar and Kyle Benecke, also local Olentangy Orange High School Students, came up with the theme “Heroes Not Forgotten.”

Ways to Participate & Register

You can select from different particiation levels.  There is the 1 Mile Walk, 5K Run/Walk, 5K Flag Carry Team, or purchase a T-Short only. For more inforation, CLICK HERE

Book Drive to help kids affected by Hurricane Harvey  
October 1st - 31st

Eagle Project Book Drive led by Heber Fuller, Troop 696. He is helping an elementary school near Houston, TX replace their library of 12,000 books lost due to flooding from Hurricane Harvey. Looking for new or gently used pre-k through 6th grade. There are already drop-off boxes at the following locations:

-Delaware County District Library, Orange Branch, 7171 Gooding Blvd.
-Delaware County District Library, Powell Branch, 460 Liberty Street
-Westerville Public Library, 126 S. State Street
-Walnut Creek Elementary School, 5600 Grand Oak Blvd.

Comprehensive Land Use Plan Update Public Meeting for Orange Township

The Orange Township Veterans Memorial

The Orange Township Veterans Memorial is moving forward. There will be several ways that individuals and families, clubs, organizations and businesses can donate to help make it a reality! The memorial's cost will be paid for through donations, not township funds. Help recognize and celebrate those who have served our country! 

2017 Aquatic Center Season Pass Application Available! 

Download the 2017 Aquatic Center Season Pass Application.  Orange Township resident only (see online application form for exceptions & guidelines.) North Orange Park Aquatic Center will open for the 2017 season Wednesday, May 24, and close September 4, 2017 (Labor Day). Hours typically 11am - 8:00pm, 7 days a week, but may vary on special occasions. Contact pool for details. Ph: 740-657-8881 (answered during pool hours only.)

The ReStore will be shifting its hours beginning Oct 1st. Open Tuesday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Habitat ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers whose proceeds are used to build homes, communities and hope locally and around the world, helping to create a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
