Plant a Tree Sapling

Celebrate Earth Day by helping planting native Ohio trees in the forest where volunteers have been removing invasive plant species. Native trees help our forest recover to a healthy ecosystem. Please bring a shovel, work gloves and water bottle. Planting is off-trail, please treat your clothing with tick repellant. We will be walking 1/2 mile on trail to the tree planting site. Trail will include some hills. Meeting Location Notes: Highbanks Nature Center is the first right after entering the park. Parking in the Nature Center lot is limited on busy days. Additional parking is available in the Oak Coves Picnic Area, a 10 minute walk from the Nature Center. Follow the paved trail through Oak Coves toward the Nature Center.

Camp Delaware invites audiences on an immersive journey through American history, focusing on the powerful story of the 5th U.S. Colored Infantry Regiment. This documentary explores the regiment’s formation, mustering, training, and battlefield experiences, centering on Camp Delaware in Delaware, Ohio, where these brave soldiers prepared to fight in the American Civil War. Through authentic speeches from key political figures of the era, personal letters from the troops, and evocative music from the period, Camp Delaware captures the strength and courage that fueled these soldiers’ dedication to freedom and justice. Following the movie, Directors Francine and Mark Butler will be available to answer questions. All ages welcome! Feel free to bring your dinner and beverage to this free community event.

NOTE: Camps listed below at this time are either full or waitlist.
These camps will be held at Highbanks Metro Park at the Dragonfly Shelter for ages 8-12. All camps at Highbanks-Dragonfly include fishing, creeking, kayaking, archery and a cookout (weather permitting). Campers should wear athletic shoes and clothes that can get dirty. Camp will be held rain or shine. Fee includes a t-shirt and daily snacks.
Camp Hours: M-F, 9:00AM - 4:00PM|
Please note that drop off is between 8:30 AM - 9:00 AM and pick up is between 4:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Hike Ohio! - Novices of the outdoors - Join over 15,000 members who like to hike and walk on nature trails, backpacking trails and just about anywhere in the great outdoors. All those who are dedicated to hiking excursions in Ohio, with a focus on leaving no trace of litter on our lands can join us! We will get together for evening hikes on metro parks trails, gather for day hikes in the Ohio State park and forest system and maybe even do overnight trips if anyone is interested.
